In answer to a reader’s question on why Stanford, ranked No. 2 in the country, has to face Baylor in the semifinals, the answer is that the selection committee doesn’t go by the AP rankings in determining the seeds. The committee clearly felt that UConn and Notre Dame deserved higher standing than the Cardinal, mainly because the Pac-12 wasn’t as tough as the Big East. And, frankly, they were right about that. Plus Stanford had lost to UConn. Look, to win the national title, you’ve got to get past Griner at some point, so it’s not a big deal.

“The Stanford women are on to the Final Four and a date with Brittney Griner and Baylor. OMG everyone freak out Brittney Griner can dunk! Of course she can dunk, she’s 6’8”! When you factor the length of her arms, she only needs like an 18” vertical leap to slam. I have an 18” vertical leap right now, and I had Jack in the Box twice yesterday.
